Iliffe Media Journalism Apprenticeship Program Now Open for Applications
Want to break into the journalism industry without the time and expense of a college course? If so, our apprenticeship program could be the break you are looking for.
Iliffe Media, publisher of Lincs Free Press, Spalding Guardian, Rutland and Stamford Mercury, Rutland Times, Bourne Local, Grantham Journal, Newark Advertiser, Fenland Citizen and Lynn News, is looking for its latest editorial apprentices.
It’s a fantastic way to get your foot in the door of a highly competitive industry and take the first steps towards a fascinating and rewarding career.
The program is suitable either for school leavers or for students who have followed an unrelated course. Students who have already taken a journalism course are not eligible.
We look forward to hearing from candidates from all walks of life to ensure our newsrooms reflect the diverse communities they serve.
The role will combine real-world experience in the newsroom, working across our print and digital platforms, with distance learning at a leading journalism school.
The successful candidate will receive a salary while having their training course fully funded.
The apprenticeship lasts two years, after which you may be offered a full-time position as a trainee journalist.
Apprentices will be based in the one of our offices closest to their home, but will have the option of working in other group offices.
Our apprentices have gone on to fantastic careers in the industry.
Some have stayed with the company and are now in senior positions, others have joined the BBC and ITV.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics:
- A keen interest in current affairs and current affairs
- The confidence to talk to people from all walks of life
- Strong grammatical skills
We will select our apprentices from an assessment center in August.
