Choudhary was shortlisted for the award for uncovering a history of human / child trafficking in rural Rajasthan, where children were sold as labor for factories, according to a statement from the DB Group.

“Our reporter and his team of photographers and others have spent over 15 months on this story which uncovered a human trafficking ring that flourished in three tribal districts of Rajasthan adjacent to the border with Gujarat. This story has been rigorously studied by our team for continued follow-up and has directly saved the lives of more than 120 children, ”the statement read.

The statement also added that as a direct result of history, a special investigation unit for crimes against children and women has been established in every police district in the state.
